Medicine as it should be
Psychiatry should be more than just medication management.
Patients are persons with intrinsic dignity - not consumers.
Physicians are not mere “providers” of services. They are healers called to uphold the Hippocratic Oath.

Dr. Monsalve offers patients the appropriate combination of neuroscience education, exercise, nutrition, supplementation, psychotherapy, and medications (when appropriate). He attempts to address root causes, instead of merely treating symptoms. Laboratory testing is often able to detect common abnormalities in levels of Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, magnesium, and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), among other biomarkers implicated in various conditions. Every patient receives, a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan. Dr. Monsalve’s education and training allows him to comfortably treat adults and adolescents with the following conditions, among others:

Psychotherapy
For the majority of mild to moderate cases of anxiety and depression, psychotherapy (also known as talk therapy or therapy), exercise, nutrition, and supplementation, instead of traditional medications alone, are often appropriate first line treatments. Ultimately, one of goals of psychotherapy is for patients to develop personal agency and responsibility, to understand they can improve their lives through their own efforts. Unfortunately, due to many factors, very few psychiatrists today practice psychotherapy. Understanding and respecting that many patients wish to limit or, when possible, avoid the use of medications, Dr. Monsalve is proud to offer:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for insomnia (CBT-I)
Forgiveness Therapy
Couples Therapy
Family Therapy
